Military Bagpipe Band

2009 was an eventful and fruitful year for the Military Bagpipe Band. The band kicked off the year by recruiting 8 new members from the CCA Orientation in early January. Students were introduced to Scottish music and culture, as well as the various instruments played by the band, such as the bagpipes and snare drums.

In July, the band participated in this year’s Boys’ Brigade Pipes and Drums Festival, alongside other bagpipe bands from various Boys’ Brigade companies. We had an enriching experience, made new friends, and enjoyed ourselves that day.

In August, the band played the tunes Marie’s Wedding and The Highroad to Gairloch for the 44th National day Celebtations in school during the annual Uniformed Groups Award presentation in the School Auditorium.

The year 5 band members also organized the  Band Camp. This year’s theme was “One Band”, and indeed the camp helped to bond and gel the band together in unity, regardless of race or religion. Such unity is an important factor that is vital for the band to perform together.

Overall, 2009 has been a blessed year and we would like to thank our passionate teachers-in-charge, Mdm Carol Low ,Ms Tan Hui Ming and Miss Mohana as well as our dedicated instructor, Mdm Yvonne Tan. Last but not least, we would like to thank God, to God be the Glory, the Best is yet to Be.
